There is still time to Do More Good in 2023!
This year has been one of our most active years in Grantmaking!
Because of donors like you we have given the gift of music to seniors in our local living centers, funded music groups to perform community concerts, provided funding for food shelves, housing groups and automobile repair services that provide sustainable services for our area. Our grants also supported local schools including grade school kids who bought supplies, made and distributed health kits for in need neighbors. We also helped fund local groups that provide festivals and concerts in our community.
That's part of the impact of having a Community Foundation in Golden Valley that serves our west side area.
We’re a little late in the year but there is still time! We writing you at this hour to let you know we haven’t seen your donation yet this fall. This year we did not do a community mailing so we apologize for not reminding you via mail. We used funds for grants instead. We hope your gift is already on the way to support our efforts to enhance this community we call home! Please donate today on line or send a check by mail.
As a Community Foundation we serve 5 broad areas with grants. Those areas include the Arts, through our GVArtsTM initiative fund, Sustainability programming via our Sustainability Initiative fund, Wellness in the broadest of forms via our Social Advocacy Fund, Education and Community Support at large via our Community Foundation Fund.
Please give as you are able in an amount meaning full for you.
This past year we provided more than 30 grants….We invested in the gift of music, funding musicians and singers (Instruments and Voices) to entertain and educate those in 3 Sr Living Homes in Golden Valley area as well as choral performances this fall and winter. We provided Social Advocacy Grants to fund family services and Small Sparks Grants for music events and to provide free yoga experiences to friends in the valley to help enhance their wellbeing. We provided the latter as part of our wellness initiative as a YOGA outlet to those otherwise unable to afford yoga and enjoy its benefits. We partnered with our Market In the Valley (MIV) nonprofit for that one. We also partnered with MIV to do Sustainability Day, Global Golden Valley, National Ice Cream Day and National Sugar Cookie Day! Ya, we are guilty of having fun as we Do More Good. A really meaningful new grant was to Meadowbrook school, so kids and their families could create health sanitation kits for people of need ... and boy did they have fun. We’re working to get all this on the website as soon as we can.
You can have fun as you Do More Good too! Join us during our events and donate to our funds so you can help us provide you and our neighbors with the opportunity to thrive here in the valley!
We All Do Better, When We ALL Do Better.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
We have been supported by neighbors who are individuals, families, non-profits and companies since 2011.
As a Neighbor we are giving back. Since 2011, we have provided community investments of more than $650,000! Again in 2024, we are going to Do More Good with your help!
This year, SPIRE Credit Union our new neighbor, provided $2,500. A generous family has agreed to double that amount to get us to $7,500. This will DOUBLE all gifts dated on or before December 31, 2023. As one of my project managers said, there is nothing like a deadline to sharpen your focus!
