Meet the Board

Dean Penk

Dean Penk is a founding member of the GVCF, serving as Board Chair since its inception in 2011.  Dean and his wife Julie have enjoyed living in the North Tyrol neighborhood since 1986 with multiple 4-legged kids over the years. Dean is an avid golfer, landscaper and developer of ideas and of things. He and Julie currently enjoy traveling North America after having had the opportunity to travel globally for years. 

Linda Loomis

Treasurer

Linda joined the Golden Valley Community Foundation Board in 2012. She is currently the principal of Naiad Consulting, LLC, which she established in 2013. Her practice includes support and guidance regarding local watershed management and consultation about public policy with a focus on water management. Her current client list includes the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District.

John Marshall

John Marshall has lived in Golden Valley since 2013, and joined the Golden Valley Community Foundation board in 2019.  He is passionate about making Golden Valley the best community it can be, and he and his family regularly enjoy the parks, events, and variety of activities the community offers.    

 

John is a graduate of St Olaf College and Mitchell Hamline School of Law.  John served in the military and is passionate about Veteran advocacy.

Helene Johnson

Board Member

Helene Johnson recently retired after 38 years as Executive Director of GTS Educational Events, a small nonprofit dedicated to providing educational conferences and workshops for those in public and nonprofit sectors.  Helene has been volunteering extensively with the city of Golden Valley since 2004. She was lead co-facilitator for the Envisioning process and a founding member of the Envision Connection Project Board established to focus on ways to connect community members and enhance Golden Valley’s quality of life. 

John Kluchka

John Kluchka joined GVCF in 2016 as an Executive Board member and Secretary, and continues leading board marketing, website and social media. John is involved in neighborhood engagement and volunteering, including leadership work with the original Envision Golden Valley and Golden Valley’s Planning Commission. John also founded Golden Valley Arts in 2018. He is co-chair of the annual Artist Showcase exhibition, participated in the 10WE public art advisory team, Douglas Drive Corridor study and the Brookview Community Center Task Force.   John is an Abstract Meditation Artist and photographer whose work is available at JohnKluchka.com

Dare Magnus-lawson

Dare (Dar-A) is a 1st generation American with a penchant for stepping out of his comfort zone in order to achieve goals and rewards. That penchant led him from Texas to Minnesota four winters ago when he transferred for a work opportunity. Dare has over 12 years of global account management experience, predominantly in industrial sectors, assisting large companies in capex, and opex planning, technology integration, and full cycle production planning.

 

Currently, Dare is a VP at Bank of America, working in the commercial banking division. He is passionate about helping local and state businesses grow and thrive. Dare obtained his BA from The University of Virginia (Col '06), and his MBA from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. Dare is happily married and lives in North Tyrol with his wife, daughter, and cat.

John Richardson

Board Member

John Richardson is a Meadowbrook Dad with two daughters who are now at Hopkins High School and Mankato State University. He has been a resident of Golden Valley for more than twenty years.   He is a small business owner with a professional background in training and development. He is past president of the Golden Valley Lions Club and strongly believes in the power of community connections.

Stacy Rider

Stacy Rider has been a proud resident of Golden Valley since 2004. She and her husband Joe have enjoyed raising their two sons in Golden Valley, enjoying community parks, trails, events, and programming whenever possible. To give back to the community that has given her family so much, Stacy joined the Golden Valley Community Foundation board in 2021. Stacy is eager to ensure Golden Valley remains a thriving, accessible, inclusive community for all residents, established and newly joining.

 

Stacy received her BS in Strategic Management and MBA from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She consults in the areas of Marketing, Digital Products and Technology with Fortune 1000 companies primarily in the Twin Cities area.  

Aaron Streeter

Board Member

Aaron Streeter is a passionate advertising and sales professional with over 10 years of business development and marketing experience. Aaron has lived in Golden Valley since 2016 and is eager to help strengthen his community. He is a creative thinker with a strong work ethic, positive energy, and adaptability to help build relationships and provide value for the companies and organizations he has been part of.
